Philosophy

Neuron was designed with these criteria in mind:

Future-proof: store notes locally¹ as plain-text (Markdown) files
Not tied² to a single text editor
Statically generated web site, for browsing and publishing on the web
Remain as simple to use as possible, whilst being feature-rich via Plugins

Store your notes however you want. We recommend Git, which enables full revision history of your notes for lifetime.

Text editors should ideally be decoupled, integrating via something like LSP. Both Emacs and Vim have extensions for neuron (see Editor integration).

Zettel ID
- Use title IDs when you want truly future-proof¹ link IDs that work on any text editor. However, note that this comes at the cost that you are willing to rename them (manually or using a script²) across your Zettelkasten if the title ID of any of your notes changes.
